New storage limits coming to select Microsoft 365 services
Limits effective Dec. 10 for new OneDrive, Teams/SharePoint sites, and student email accounts only
Storage limits will go into effect Tuesday, Dec. 10, for new OneDrive accounts (100GB), new Teams/SharePoint sites (100GB), and new student email accounts (50GB).
The new storage limits are one of the necessary changes Digital Technology Solutions will be phasing in to bring the university’s utilization in-line with Microsoft’s new contracted storage limits.
Digital Technology Solutions will begin rolling out the new storage limits to existing OneDrive, Teams/SharePoint sites, and email accounts in early 2025. The planned approach will help avoid additional costs associated with Microsoft storage changes when they go into effect July 1, 2026.
What you need to know
The majority (99%) of UC students, faculty, and staff accounts are within the new storage limits and will not be affected when the quotas go into effect.
If your OneDrive, Teams/SharePoint site, or email account is near or exceeds the new quota, you will receive a dedicated email with next steps.
How-to info & resources
DTS has put together tips to guide UC students, faculty, and staff through the changes and help make the most of their available storage in email, OneDrive, and Teams.
