UC IT students recognized for achievement in cooperative education
Each spring, the University of Cincinnati’s College of Cooperative Education and Professional Studies honors students for outstanding achievement in experiential learning.
The following three students in UC’s School of Information Technology were recognized for their achievements in cooperative education. Their stories help to illustrate why the University of Cincinnati is a top five university for co-ops and internships according to U.S. News Best Colleges rankings.
Emma Brantley, Information Technology

Emma Brantley has taken full advantage of her classroom and field experiences at UC. After completing a co-op at Mass Mutual, Brantley secured a co-op on her own at Viasat in Duluth, Georgia, near her hometown of Atlanta, as a software engineer. She completed three co-op rotations and a master’s degree project with the company – as a student in the School of IT’s accelerated program, Brantley will receive a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree this spring. After graduation, Brantley will begin her career at Viasat as a software engineer.
Anna Pham, Cybersecurity
Mansfield, Ohio, native Anna Pham completed her first co-op as an IT technician with a local school district, then completed four co-ops with 84.51 in infrastructure and cloud technology on the desktop engineering, dev pipelines, data availability, and clickstream team. She has been involved in the UC community as president of her sorority and of the Vietnamese Student Association and as director of programming for the Multicultural Greek Council.
Deon Sequeira, Master of Science in Information Technology
Coming to UC from India, Deon Sequeira made outstanding contributions at Ocean Technologies Group. He demonstrated exceptional communication and critical thinking skills, actively sought feedback, refined his approach, and led impactful projects. His ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly, engage in cross-cultural communication, and adapt to work environments showcases his preparedness for a dynamic IT career.

The University of Cincinnati’s School of Information Technology (SoIT) is preparing to announce a historic collaborative partnership with the Cincinnati CIO Roundtable, a unique and collegial forum for chief information officers in the region's largest organizations. The official announcement, which includes a formal signing, will take place on March 4th, 2026, at the University of Cincinnati Teachers Dyer Complex, room 407 (Annie Laws) at 11:30 a.m. The goal of the collaboration, says SoIT director Hazem Said, is to close the gap between the classroom and the boardroom.
