UC Clermont named to EPA’s Green Power Partnership for commitment to renewable energy

UC Clermont earned this designation by sourcing 100 percent of its electricity from wind energy since 2019, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to sustainability and environmental stewardship. The college also has been dedicated to continued sustainability programs such as pollinating gardens, battery recycling, campus wide recycling programs, plastic bottled water elimination and a four year phaseout of florescent bulbs for LED fixtures in common areas and classrooms.  

“UC Clermont’s achievement of 100 percent wind energy demonstrates the power of our strong partnership with UC Utilities. Together, we've proven you can advance environmental goals while maintaining operational efficiency and generating cost savings that support academic excellence,” said Kevin Peck, associate director of maintenance and operations at UC Clermont. “This recognition from the EPA affirms our campus dedication to operating responsibly and sustainably. We’re proud to be part of a national movement that supports clean energy and reduces the environmental impact of electricity use.”

The EPA’s Green Power Partnership encourages voluntary use of green power to reduce the environmental risks associated with conventional electricity use. Partners include a wide range of forward-thinking organizations — from Fortune 500 companies to local governments and educational institutions — who meet rigorous standards for renewable energy sourcing.

UC Clermont joins a growing list of colleges and universities nationwide that are leading the way in sustainability. The college’s participation in the Green Power Partnership also aligns with broader University of Cincinnati goals to reduce carbon emissions and promote environmental responsibility across all campuses.
