When does the fall semester start for Ohio college students?
The Columbus Dispatch offers a listing of schools; UC starts Monday, Aug. 25
The dog days of summer are revving up, but the back-to-school season is upon us. Most colleges and universities in Ohio start in the latter half of August, according to The Columbus Dispatch.
The first day of class is Monday, Aug. 25 for the University of Cincinnati, while Ohio State will start Aug. 26.
It’s been quieter during the summer at UC but activities still keep the campus a buzz. First-year student orientation brought close to 7,000 participants — new Bearcats and their family members — to campus for tours along with an introduction to student life featuring sessions on financial aid, residence halls and meetings with college advisors.
Also, DAAPcamps drew hundreds of middle and high school students from Greater Cincinnati, while UC Futures offered a three-day, two-night summer residential experience at UC for more than 70 juniors and seniors from rural and small-town high schools from across Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky and Michigan.

UC students also took summer classes in greater numbers leading to the largest-ever summer enrollment — 23,789 students. That's up by a thousand students over prior years. It's also the largest summer college enrollment in the state. And enrollment for the fall semester at UC also looks good.
In 2024, UC enrolled 53,235 students at its Uptown, Blue Ash and Clermont campuses.
"UC anticipates seeing growth again this year including our freshman class," says Jack Miner, vice provost for enrollment management.
