Cincinnati Law named one of nation's best LL.M programs

The University of Cincinnati College of Law has once again been recognized as a national leader in global legal education. In its 2025 Best LL.M. Programs for Foreign Attorneys issue, The International Jurist named Cincinnati Law to its prestigious Honor Roll for U.S. Legal Systems. The annual list highlights LL.M. programs that provide exceptional academic support, networking opportunities, and pathways to practice for international attorneys.

Founded in 2012, Cincinnati Law’s Master of Laws (LL.M.) program offers foreign-trained lawyers the opportunity to gain a deep understanding of U.S. law and legal institutions. Designed for attorneys who have earned a law degree outside the United States, the program provides students with the tools to advance their careers globally—whether through international practice, academia, or public service.

What sets Cincinnati Law’s LL.M. program apart is its intentional structure. Students are fully integrated into the life of the law school, taking courses alongside J.D. students and engaging in student organizations & networking events. The program’s small class size allows for personalized academic support creating a tight-knit, welcoming community for international scholars.

"We appreciate that our approach to global legal education stands out among others and is consistently recognized by our students, graduates, and the National Jurist. We make it a priority to offer LLM students exceptional opportunities at a lower cost than most other law schools in the US. It's nice to see this commitment recognized."

Nora Burke Wagner, Assistant Dean of International and Graduate Programs

The International Jurist specifically highlighted UC Law’s excellence in teaching the U.S. legal system to international students. The honor roll celebrates schools that offer immersive academic experiences and robust support structures—hallmarks of the Cincinnati LL.M. experience. In recent years, UC Law’s LL.M. alumni have gone on to work in the U.S. and abroad in private practice, government service, NGOs, and academic institutions.

The College of Law’s commitment to global legal education is rooted in a broader vision to train lawyers who are ready to practice and lead across borders. Located in a thriving legal and business hub, students also benefit from externships and access to a dynamic legal community in Cincinnati and beyond.

"I am delighted by the recent recognition of our exceptional LL.M. program in the International Jurist. This honor highlights our strong dedication to enhancing our international programs, one of our five strategic priorities. In today's globalized legal landscape, it is crucial that we bring the world to the College of Law, and the College of Law to the world. Our LL.M. program plays a vital role in achieving this, and we are excited to advance it even further in the years to come," said Dean Haider Ala Hamoudi, Nippert Professor of Law.
