PHOTOS: Celebrating Bearcats at UC Family Weekend

Families, friends and pets were all present for more than 50 activities over 3 days

UC Family Weekend offered a slice of college life for thousands of UC Bearcat siblings, parents and friends.

With more than 50 activities over three days, the event was coordinated by the Office of Parent and Family programs in the Division of Student Affairs and allowed families the opportunity to spend time with their student, experience life at UC and explore the city of Cincinnati.

“My office likes to say UC Family Weekend is the most wonderful time of the year,” explains Dy’Mand Montgomery, assistant director of parent and family programs. “This is our Superbowl and we plan for it all year long.”

A UC photography class led by Sean Hughes, professor of journalism, scoped out many of the weekend’s events to capture fun photos showcasing school spirit and the joy of being a Bearcat. Check out the photos of UC Family Weekend below.

Putting economic theory to the test

February 12, 2026

Economists and politicians have weighed the benefits of different theoretical models for years, but a lack of direct, empirical evidence showing the macroeconomic effects of fiscal policy has made it difficult to argue for or against government funding at the local level. That’s why University of Cincinnati economics professor David Brasington, PhD, published a new study called “Fiscal policy and economic activity: New Causal Evidence” in the Scandinavian Journal of Economics. By examining decades of levy renewal data across the state of Ohio, the study estimates the impact of property taxes on income beyond theoretical projections.
