Veterans Day ceremony at UC Nov. 10
Join in celebration of those who served in the armed forces
The University of Cincinnati’s annual Veterans Day ceremony and resource fair will take place Monday, Nov. 10, beginning at 10 a.m., at the Tangeman University Center (TUC) Great Hall.
Veterans Day is a U.S. federal holiday — celebrated this year on Tuesday, Nov. 11 — to honor military veterans of all wars. The university is closed on federal holidays.
The 2025 guest speaker at the Nov. 10th UC event will be Carl Whalen, a U.S. Army combat veteran who served as a medic during Operation Iraqi Freedom with the 5th Squadron, 4th Cavalry Regiment, 2nd Heavy Brigade Combat Team and 1st Infantry Division out of Fort Riley, Kansas.
After his military service, Whalen earned his Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from UC in 2017. He is the founder of Back the Heroes Rumble, a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring fallen heroes and providing lifesaving equipment to police, fire and rescue departments across Ohio, Indiana and Kentucky.
The resource fair will take place immediately following the ceremony, from approximately 10:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., in the TUC Great Hall.
Representatives from the Veterans Administration, Wounded Warrior Project, The Vets Center, Hamilton County Veterans Service Commission, UC Human Resources, financial services company PRIMERICA and local American Legion Post 484 will be on hand to assist with benefits, financial and employment opportunities.
The ceremony and resource fair are open to all veterans and the general public.
Refreshments will be served.
