What makes me a Bearcat for Life

I am a University of Cincinnati Bearcat for life because UC is not only where I earned my degrees, it is where UC helped me discover my purpose as an educator, advocate, and servant leader.

UC facilitated my growth in every area of my life, academically, professionally, and personally, and helped shape the woman I am today. It was at UC that I experienced the power of representation, mentorship, and community, and it was through UC’s TRIO and first-generation initiatives that my own life trajectory was transformed.

Academic journey

As a proud Cincinnati native, woman of faith, and first-generation college student, my journey is rooted in breaking generational barriers and creating pathways for others to rise.

I earned an Associate of Arts with a concentration in Psychology from Cincinnati State, a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the College of Arts and Sciences at UC, a Master of Educational Studies with a concentration in Child Studies and Educational Psychology from the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at UC, and two seminary degrees — giving a special shoutout to CECH for nurturing my academic and professional growth.

Every degree I earned reinforced my commitment to serving others and pursuing excellence. UC was not just a place I attended, it is a community that facilitated my development and strengthened my calling.

Service, Leadership, and Community Engagement

I am a TRIO alumna and advocate, mentoring students through the Council for Opportunity in Education’s TRIO Career Development Program. I am also a national TRIO advocate, helping first-generation students navigate college access, financial aid, and career pathways.

My leadership, service, and community engagement initiatives include supporting the TRIO Upward Bound and Student Support Services programs, mentoring students in STEM and participating in community initiatives through the Women’s Institute for Leadership Development and the Appointed Civic Leadership Academy through the Greater Cincinnati Foundation Women’s Fund.

I currently give back by serving on the 4A Alumni Committee at UC, supporting programs that foster mentorship, networking, professional development, and meaningful community engagement for students and alumni.

Being a Bearcat for life means honoring where you come from, lifting as you climb, and using your education to create impact.

UC taught me that “to whom much is given, much is required,” and that truth continues to guide my service, leadership, and faith walk. I am a Bearcat for life because UC facilitated my growth, helped me discover my purpose, and continues to inspire me to empower the next generation of students and leaders.
