A Bearcat For Life Story
Being a Bearcat for Life is a wonderful family tradition for me.
My grandma was an accounting major in the 1923-24 school year. Unfortunately her mother was terminally ill and she had to drop out after her freshman year to go to work at the Federal Reserve. It worked out well because she met my grandpa there!
Both my mom and dad went to UC back when it was referred to as a streetcar college in the late '40s-early '50s.
When it was time for me to apply to college I picked UC because they had great classes in my major (Spanish), plus so many activities to choose from on campus like Greek letter organizations and student government.
Dad came to visit one fall; and he, Grandpa and I went to the football game. As we were singing the alma mater I glanced up at my dad; he had one tear rolling down his cheek. He was so happy to sing the same alma mater as his daughter! It is one of my favorite memories, along with being a Chi Omega sister with Mom.
In later years we would watch the Bearcats football games on TV together, cheering on our team as a family with love and loyalty.
Being a Bearcat for Life is part of my family's history, memories and pride.
