Finding the perfect blend at Lindner

Sukanya Chatterjee fills her skills gap with the Master of Science in Information Systems

A new city, a new country, a new discipline. Sukanya Chatterjee faced a cavalcade of barriers on her journey to Lindner, but no impediment would stand in her way as she sought to maximize her experience and gain the new knowledge she needed to succeed.

As a computer science graduate from Lovely Professional University in Phagwara, India, Chatterjee started her career as an application development associate with Accenture. The role put her technical skills to the test, but Chatterjee craved something more.

“I was dealing directly with the business, but because I had a software background, it was very hard for me to make a direct transition,” said Chatterjee. “The MS IS (Master of Science in Information Systems) program was a perfect blend of technical courses and also the business courses that I was looking for.”

Seeking that balance between worlds, Chatterjee found a home at Lindner, one in which she continues to thrive and find new opportunities and experiences behind every door.

“Sukanya exemplifies excellence through an inquisitive mind and stellar academic standing. Her innovative mindset shines in case competitions, where she leverages emerging technologies to build functional prototypes,” said Kris Jones, assistant professor-educator of operations, business analytics, and information systems, and academic director of the MS IS program. “Combining technical mastery with a collaborative spirit, Sukanya is a standout contributor to the MS IS program and a future leader in the field of information systems.”

Taking the reins with every opportunity

Between hackathons, case competitions and realworld simulations, not a rock was left unturned as Chatterjee sought experiences that would push the bounds of her technical and professional knowledge.

“We had a simulation project where we ran a startup company from start to end. We were running products and market analysis, and that really gave me a broader perspective of what we can do with ERP (enterprise resource planning),” cited Chatterjee as one of her most impactful projects.

Other highlights from Chatterjee’s tenure at Lindner include: tackling PowerBI dashboards to aid sustainable business practices with UC Net Impact and TQL; creating AI agents in the Kautz-Uible Economics Institute’s Agentic AI Challenge; and competing against multiple teams in the PNC AI in Banking Hackathon.

With these experiences, Chatterjee explored the vast array of pathways available to her.

The practical approach of the courses helped me think clearly about what I want to become after this degree program.”

“With the kind of exposure and knowledge I have, with the projects that we did, with the portfolio we have right now, we can get any job we like. I can be anything I want because I have the exposure. That’s how the MS IS program shapes you.”
