Interior Design and Architecture Programs Make the Grade

The University of Cincinnati houses prized programs in interior design and architecture, according to an annual survey of U.S. architecture firms.

The education rankings based on this survey along with information on professional trends, legislation, design statistics as well as the world's leading designers and buildings are included in the just-released Almanac of Architecture & Design 2003/Fourth Edition, a definitive reference source.

Currently the only such study of its kind, the joint effort by the Almanac and DesignIntelligence, an industry newsletter, to determine the best design schools and colleges is based on the hiring experiences of leading architecture firms across the U.S.  This is the fourth-straight year that UC's interior design program has topped the list of the nation's best interior design programs.  Similarly, it's the third-straight year that the UC architecture program has placed third on the list.

Following UC's interior design programs were, among others:  Pratt Institute, Syracuse University, Cornell University and Auburn University.

UC's architecture program placed third behind Harvard University and the California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo.  Others following later on the list were Cornell University, Yale University, Columbia University, Rice University, and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
