Design Students Reach for Purrrr-fection

UC architecture and interior design students gave their dog-gone best effort in a recent design challenge with a twist.

Twenty-three students spent about four weeks designing and constructing "barkitecture" for Cincinnati's Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.  In all, the students created six new homes for dogs and cats.  Their pet homes will be auctioned off by the SPCA during a special fundraising dinner for the organization on Feb. 8. 

Among the student creations were a cat habitat that stands five feet tall.  It provides several layers for a cat to climb onto for sleep, play, hiding or surveying the territory.  Another, a doghouse, even sported a skylight.
