UC Accelerated Admissions Program Open Until September 17

Hundreds of new UC students are discovering that it’s not too late to get a seat in class this fall. In just a few hours – at the student’s convenience – the University of Cincinnati’s On-Site Admissions program gets students applied, admitted and ready to register in one visit. At most universities, a similar process can take a month or longer to complete.

Happening now through Sept. 17, the last day to confirm admission for the central  campus, students can visit the On-Site headquarters on the third floor of University Pavilion.

Jonathan Weller, assistant director of admissions, says more than 400 new UC students have already taken advantage of On-Site this year. He adds that approximately half of them are first-year students, and the other 50 percent are students who transferred to UC from other academic institutions.

“At On-Site, we’ve helped students who simply thought they’d missed the opportunity to get into college, or transfer, this fall and  others who were planning to start college somewhere else and at the last minute, decide to come home,” says James Williams, director of UC enrollment services. “This program is aimed at helping everyone succeed in getting to college.”

Williams adds that it’s rare for the larger, public four-year institutions to provide such a service outside the traditional admissions process, which typically ends in the spring. UC has offered programs similar to On-Site since 1994.  "This program represents University of Cincinnati’s commitment to convenient and efficient service to students," he says.

On-Site is expected to draw even more students in September and is staffing up with extra admission counselors and advisors during lunch hour and evenings. On-Site is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesdays until 7 p.m. and is open Saturday, Sept. 6th and 13th between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. For more information about On-Site, including directions to campus and what students must bring to On-Site to register for UC, check the Web site at http://www.admissions.uc.edu/onsite or call 513-556-UCUC.
