Race Judicata In Home Stretch To Third Annual Event

"Paving the Way for Student Service" is the theme behind the third annual Race Judicata 5k Walk/Run being sponsored by the Public Interest Law Group of the University of Cincinnati's College of Law.

This year's race begins on Sunday, March 14, at 9 a.m. from the corner of Clifton and Calhoun Streets, just outside the college.

Proceeds from the event benefit the College of Law's Summer Public Interest Fellowship Fund. The fund provides stipends to law students, allowing them to work in unpaid positions on behalf of the public, the poor and the underserved.

Past assignments through the program have been with federal prosecutors' and county public defenders' offices, civil rights firms and agencies, and with organizations such as Pro-Kids and Women Helping Women.

Race Judicata features multiple divisions for both runners and walkers. Trophies will be presented to the first overall male and female finishers in both the running and walking categories, and the top 15 percent of each age group based on pre-registration.

Pre-registration runs through March 10, and is $10 ($15 with a race T-shirt). Regular registration runs from that point through the day of the race, and is $15 ($20 with a race T-shirt).
