The buzz of the cicada outbreak could not drown out the buzz around the big MainStreet Preview Celebration May 21-22 at the University of Cincinnati. The celebration was attended by up to 7,000 people, says Robert Tackett, director, MainStreet operations. He adds that the Friday overnight "Lord of the Rings" trilogy was "packed."
Here's a look back on the excitement, including the spectacular Rozzi's Famous Fireworks display on Sigma Sigma Commons Saturday night. R&B band LeRoy Ellington and the E-Funk Band kept toes tapping on Bearcat Plaza during the Friday cookout that followed the official ribbon-cutting ceremony.
Critically acclaimed author and screenwriter Antwone Fisher was featured in a lecture and book-signing of his autobiography.
Later on Friday evening, former "Saturday Night Live" cast member Jim Breuer had the crowds laughing in the Great Hall.
And rounding out the celebrities on Friday night, "Sopranas" star Steve Schirripa hosted Casino Night in the TUC Food Court.
