Vehr Announces That Community Connections Database Is Now Online
A new searchable resource will catalog UCs civic engagement programs. Faculty and staff are encouraged to participate. The text below is from a memo about the project by Vice President Greg Vehr, who unveiled the new resource last week.
Are you doing great work with the community? Have you developed a partnership with a community organization that extends your scholarship and benefits the region too? You can enter your descriptions of these relationships in our new online database, Community Connections. You can access the database at www.uc.edu/connect. Please take a moment now to tell us about your current partnerships -- just click on the Add a Program link at the bottom of the page.
Community Connections currently contains some examples of the broad range of programs that UC has developed in partnership with the larger community. But its only the beginning; your participation is essential if Community Connections is to be a valuable resource for you, your colleagues and the community. As you know, forging key relationships and partnerships -- and creating better access to UC resources -- are significant goals of UC|21.
Over time, we expect Community Connections to contain hundreds, perhaps thousands, of records that detail UCs rich interaction with the Greater Cincinnati region and beyond. Once these records are collected in one place, we can leverage them more effectively, communicate them to a larger audience, and celebrate the rewards that come from building partnerships and alliances.
This spring, we would like to introduce Community Connections to the larger community. Please help us grow this community resource by sharing the details of your work throughout the region. An online form is available for you to enter information about each of your key partnerships at www.uc.edu/connect. To see how the resource works, select browse by subject, then urban issues, then Community Design Center. From there, you can learn about the program and link to the program Web site for more details.
Community Connections is developed and maintained by Community Relations. For more information, please contact Mary Stagaman at 556-3029 or mary.stagaman@uc.edu.
