UC Hosts Su Casa Benefit Dinner April 28
The Sixth Annual Su Casa Hispanic Ministries Awards Dinner will be held Thursday, April 28, at the University of Cincinnati Fifth Third Arena at Shoemaker Center. The awards dinner gets underway at 7 p.m. and the cash bar opens at 6 p.m. Reservations are $50 per person or $450 per table.
Victor Velez, Su Casa coordinator of educational services, says the organization has registered 56 tables for the event and expects to meet their goal of registering 60 tables. The money raised will benefit the following educational programs offered by Su Casa Ministries:
- GED in Spanish
- English as a Second Language Three levels of ESL programming for Spanish-speaking populations learning English
- A computer lab for Spanish-speaking clients
- Spanish classes for Cincinnatis English-speaking population three levels of Spanish are offered
This is the first time that the University of Cincinnati is hosting Su Casas largest annual fund-raiser. UCs Division of Enrollment Management is hosting the dinner. The keynote speaker is Ricardo Moncada, vice president of human resources and organizational development for xpedx, a division of International Paper. Sasha Rionda, news anchor for WKRCs Nuestro Rincon, the areas only Spanish-speaking newscast, will announce award recipients including the presentation of the Cesar Chavez Award, an annual award to honor a community leaders exemplary work in the Latino community.
Entertainment will be provided by the Classical Latin American Trio as well as dance performances by Danza Contigo Peru.
