UC Clermont College Celebrates Graduation

Graduation from UC was a family affair for father and daughter Bill and Tammy Lohrum who graduated together on Saturday. Both attended UC Clermont College and participated in Commencement Day activities that began with brunch at Clermont College on Saturday.

Bill Lohrum, 52, of Amelia received a pre-business administration degree, while his 33-year old daughter Tammy of Anderson received an associate in applied science. Both father and daughter plan to transition to the main campus to complete their bachelors degree. “I returned to school to create a better future for myself,” said Bill Lohrum. “It is never too late.”

Graduate Chris Henke of Batavia created the ‘stole of gratitude’ for his father Jerry. The message on the stole: “To My Loving father, Thank you for your Faith and Sacrifice. I LOVE YOU”. The stole is part of the traditional academic regalia worn by graduates.

“There were a lot of times that I thought I wouldn’t make it. He helped me so much. I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am now without his support,” said Henke who earned his liberal arts degree and hopes to earn a doctorate in psychology.

Buses transported graduates and families down to the main campus for commencement exercises. Approximately 210 students from UC Clermont earned degrees and certificates.
