UC Launches New Relief Plan For Victims Of The Hurricanes
The University of Cincinnati launched a new university-wide relief effort for the victims of hurricanes Katrina and Rita. UC employees now have the option of donating one vacation day, with the equivalent of their salary benefiting the universitys hurricane relief fund.
President Nancy L. Zimpher announced the new donation program in an e-mail to university employees. Donations will be accepted through the new program until its total reaches $50,000.
President Zimpher also announced that total university cash donations to aid hurricane victims now amount to $20,000. She added that the university has also received an additional $5,000 in pledges, and that another UC group is working to match the $5,000.
