Diversity at UC Clermont College
Jaime McCauley has seen a lot of growth at UC Clermont College. With that growth there comes a need for increased understanding of individuals and groups who may be quite different in culture, race, religious beliefs, and life philosophy. The world is getting smaller no question about it, says McCauley who heads the Resource Center at UC Clermont College. Students in the 21st century will need understanding and tolerance to be successful in life, no matter what career path they choose.
McCauley is a Co-chair for the UC Clermont College portion of the Walk as One effort that will take place Saturday, October 15, 2005 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The Walk as One event was started seven years ago by the National Conference for Community and Justice (NCCJ). NCCJ is dedicated to fighting bias, bigotry and racism in the United States by promoting understanding and respect among all races, religions and cultures.
We are making a very positive statement by participating and we ask the community to join us. We hope to have enough walkers to meet at UC Clermont College and travel by bus to the walk site - downtown, said John Hurley, Athletic Director and Coordinator of Student Life at Clermont College.
Some people have already remarked that six miles is a very long hike. says McCauley with a little smile. But I simply say that the road to cultural harmony is a long walk and one that we are all challenged to take part in.
If you would like to walk with UC Clermont College, or make a donation please contact co-chairs Jamie McCauley (732-5291) or mccaulj@email.uc.edu or Nan McCart (732-5281) nan.mccart@uc.edu.
