Clermont's McLaughlin Named 2005 Edward J. Parish Pacesetter

 The Clermont Chamber of Commerce named Robert “Mick” McLaughlin the 2005 Edward J. Parish Pacesetter.  McLaughlin is the associate dean for administrative services at the University of Cincinnati Clermont College.
 
The Edward J. Parish Pacesetter Award recognizes an individual who has genuine concern for the welfare of Clermont County and its residents and who has exhibited outstanding qualities of character, citizenship and leadership.

 
“I am humbled and very honored to be named the Edward J. Parish Pacesetter by the Clermont Chamber of Commerce.  "Serve where your planted" is the motto of my Mother, and I have tried to live that in my life at UC Clermont College and in the community,” said McLaughlin.

McLaughlin’s involvement at the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association includes 20 years of service as a board member, National Alumni President from 1994 – 1996 and was awarded the Alumni Distinguished Service Award in 1998. McLaughlin is a member of the Clermont Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Committee, the Clermont County/Ohio 32 Corridor Vision Committee and the Christian Benevolent Association Board.  He is a Board Member and past Executive Committee Member of Clermont 20/20 Inc., where he has served as Chairman of the Leadership Institute and member of the Education Task Force and alum of the LEAD Clermont Class of 1999. 
 
"I can think of no one that I have worked with in my 30-year career who exemplifies professionalism and dedication to do his best, no matter what the cause, more than Mick McLaughlin. It has been my great pleasure and honor to be his colleague and friend,” said David H. Devier, Dean of UC Clermont College.
 
McLaughlin is a Board Member and Treasurer of the foundation for Appalachian Ohio, an Elder, Past chairman and Bible School Teacher with Parkside Christian Church.  McLaughlin is a past Board Member of the Clermont County Workforce Policy Board, a past Board Member, Treasurer and President of the Clermont Counseling Center, and a member of the Leadership Cincinnati Class of 1980.
 
Qualifications for nominees include:

*                A living person who is a member of the business community

*                Performs services for the county which are voluntary, continued and devoted in nature

*                Has attained professional, business or civic notoriety at local, state, national or international levels

*                Has demonstrated leadership ability

*                Has achieved accomplishments which have brought favorable attention to the community, institution, firm or organization
