UC President Nancy L. Zimpher Presented New UC Student Yearbook
After a year of production, the first University of Cincinnati yearbook to be produced since 1989 is now a reality. Yearbook editor Rebecca Cook presented The Cincinnatian to University of Cincinnati President Nancy L. Zimpher and Vice President for Student Affairs & Services Mitchel D. Livingston during a brief reception on Dec. 8.
The new yearbook, themed The Big East Edition, is divided into four key sections covering student life at UC: excellence, academics, success and tradition. Produced in conjunction with Jostens Printing & Publishing, Cook says approximately 200 copies of the yearbook were personally ordered, but extras are available for sale through the Cincinnatian Yearbook Club.
Also attending the presentation were yearbook advisor Angela Gooden, head of the Geology-Mathematics-Physics Library, David Macejko, executive director for the UC Alumni Association, and Jerry Tsai, UC Student Body President. Start-up funding for the new yearbook was supported by $3,200 from the UC Alumni Association MasterCard Grant Fund and $650 from Student Government.
The yearbook staff is already at work on a new yearbook and students can start placing orders for the second edition of the new Cincinnatian after winter quarter begins. Students can get involved in its production and submit group photos by e-mailing Cincinnatian_yearbook@yahoo.com
Orders for the new yearbook can be placed through The Cincinnatian Web site.
The university has not produced a regular yearbook since 1972, when the UC Communications Board reallocated funding from the yearbook and a literary magazine to launch a quarterly magazine named Clifton, to provide more relevance to the Baby Boomer students of the post-Sixties era. After a successful run of nearly two decades, Clifton magazine drifted into an infrequent publication schedule and was discontinued in 1994.
