Emmy-award Winner Arthur R. Miller of Harvard Law to Speak at UC College of Law on Jan. 17

One of the nation’s most recognizable legal authorities, Harvard University Professor of Law Arthur R. Miller, will be making a public presentation at the University of Cincinnati College of Law on Jan. 17, as part of his selection as the college’s first Stanley M. Chesley Professor of Law.

Miller, an Emmy-award winner for his work on PBS, will be visiting the college from Jan. 12-17 to teach the Advanced Topics in Civil Procedure class through his Chesley appointment. He will conclude his visit by speaking during an informal session beginning at noon on Wednesday, Jan. 17, in Room 114 of the college. The session is free and open to the public.

Besides being one of the nation’s foremost authorities on court procedure and right of privacy issues, Miller has become familiar to millions of television viewers through his extensive career as a legal expert on television.

Perhaps most distinctive has been his moderating of numerous Socratic dialogue programs on PBS that explored the law in ways that made the topics more accessible to those not in the legal field. Miller won an Emmy award for his discussion series on PBS, "The Sovereign Self," and also hosted programs such as "The Constitution: That Delicate Balance," "Managing Our Miracles: Health Care in America" and "The Presidency."

Miller is also familiar to viewers for his stint for several years as the legal editor on ABC’s "Good Morning America" program, as the host of his own program, "Miller’s Court" for eight years, and for frequent appearances on Court TV and the Courtroom Television Network.
