UC Clermont Volleyball Signs Blanchester Standout Athlete and Student Jaci Stewart
Stewart won many honors during her senior season at Blanchester High School. She received the teams Most Valuable Player award and was named both First Team All-Conference (Southern Buckeye) and Honorable Mention All-City.
Stewart's signing is the first recruit resulting from UC Clermonts trip this past season to the USCAA National Championship Tournament. She turned down an offer from a prominent NAIA program to join the Cougars. I expect to sign a few more top players like Jaci because of the 2006 teams success, said Clermont College Head Coach Joe Harpring.
Im thrilled to be able to sign a player of Jacis ability both on the court and in the classroom, said Coach Harpring. As a hitter, she can read a defense and find the open spot. Jaci is also very comfortable passing a ball.
Stewart brings many years of volleyball experience to the Clermont program. She was a member of the Blanchester varsity team for three years, after spending her freshman season with the reserve squad. In addition, she played two years in junior high and earned the Female Scholar Athlete of the Year Award in eighth grade. Stewart also has a wealth of Junior Olympic experience with both the Brown County and Lineshot Volleyball Clubs.
As an all-around athlete, Stewart plays basketball, softball and is a member of the track team. She volunteers as a basketball coach with the Special Olympics and has been nominated for the National Honor Society. She is the daughter of Sharon and Dennis Stewart.
