Economics Center for Education & Research Ranked No. 1 in the Nation
The National Council on Economic Education is a nonprofit organization that hopes to promote literacy in economics for students and their teachers. NCEE's mission is to "help students develop the real-life skills they need to succeed: to be able to think and choose responsibly as consumers, savers, investors, citizens, members of the workforce, and effective participants in a global economy."
In a letter to President Nancy L. Zimpher, NCEE President and CEO Robert Duvall said that the Economics Center for Education & Research was recognized as "the number one center among the 230 centers of its kind nationwide."
This prestigious status is based on the Economics Centers outstanding performance over many years, wrote Duvall. The center consistently engages teachers and school leaders, while exhibiting excellence in delivering high-quality programs and outreach efforts to the business and education community.
"The community has been our partner in getting this award," says George Vredeveld, director of the Economics Center for Education & Research.
The Economics Center for Education & Research was founded in 1977 as a non-profit organization dedicated to being the leading source of economics information and resources for teachers, students, and businesses in the Greater Cincinnati area. For 30 years, the Economics Center has trained teachers, developed classroom materials, and revolutionized economics learning for students from kindergarten through high school. Cincinnatis Economics Center is the largest and most-established center of its kind.
"Over the last several years we've seen a significant increase in activity in the numbers of students we've been able to reach. To be able to have this much impact on young students and teachers is really a gratifying thing," says Vredeveld. "And what's even nicer is that this is something that the staff really enjoys doing."
We trust that the university is proud of the Economics Center for Education & Research, its accomplishments and many contributions to the community, Duvalls letter concluded. We commend you, gratefully, for it.
