Robert Richardson, Professor of Philosophy, Named a Fellow by AAAS
Robert Richardson, professor of philosophy, has been named a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
Richardson and Peter Stambrook, professor and chairman of the UC College of Medicine's cell and cancer biology department, are among 471 AAAS members recognized in 2007 for their scientifically or socially distinguished efforts to advance science or its applications.
"Bob Richardson has made major contributions to the philosophy of biology and cognitive science for nearly three decades," says John Bickle, professor and Department of Philosophy head. "His knowledge of real biology and its history, from the molecular up through evolution and ecology, are shared by only a handful of philosophers internationally. This honor is timely and well deserved. The UC Department of Philosophy has been honored to have Bob as a colleague for more than 30 years now, and we hope to have him for many more."
