ESL Offerings Available as Part of Fall Communiversity Courses
UC's Communiversity program is offering this fall a series of English as a Second Language course offerings.
The non-credit courses are designed for non-native speakers of English who want to acquire language skills and confidence, increase their communication abilities and learn to be successful in everyday and business interactions.
Teachers in the program comes from the Teaching ESL program at UC and are experienced in working with adult non-native speakers.
Course offerings include:
COMMUNICATING in the U.S. I: Everyday Life
- Learn about social expectations and interactions, transportation and regulations (car, bus, train), transactions (shopping, rental leases, acquiring services), and safety and security.
COMMUNICATING in the U.S. II: Living in Cincinnati
- Topics include: the educational system (levels; requirements; talking to teachers), social activities and events (fun things to do in Cincinnati; how to meet people), and getting involved in the community.
COMMUNICATING in the U.S. III: Finding Employment
- Find out about looking for employment, filling out applications, and interviewing. Other topics will be added based on your interests and needs. Requires intermediate level of proficiency in English.
COMMUNICATING in the U.S. IV: Advancing at Work
Learn to improve your interaction with colleagues and supervisors, understand the culture of the workplace, and learn to make basic oral and written presentations. Other topics will be added based on your interests. Requires intermediate level of proficiency in English.
