Giant Bearcat Stands Tall at Fountain Square to Celebrate UC s Largest Campaign

Passers-by at Fountain Square this week will see an unusual sight: a 50-foot inflatable bearcat peering down at them from above. The behemoth bearcat, which weighs 350 pounds and takes only 3-4 minutes to inflate, is the largest inflatable one in the country and signals the launch of the largest campaign in UC history.

Proudly Cincinnati: Tower of Strength, Rock of Truth is the University of Cincinnati’s effort to raise $800 million for students, scholarships and programs. Proudly Cincinnati’s official public kickoff is Saturday, Oct. 25, and it will run through June 30, 2013. The campaign will focus on a number of initiatives that will position UC as the finest public urban research university for the 21st Century:  Learning; Health; Science and Technology; Arts, Design and the Humanities; Urban Solutions and the UC Experience.

The bearcat has appeared at places including Raymond Walters College, Clermont College, the Homecoming Parade, UC Physicians and will appear at the following venues:

  • October 21-24 at Fountain Square
  • October 25 at the Campaign Launch Gala
  • October 30 at the UC vs USF football game

Information Security Roadshow spreads awareness

The University of Cincinnati's Office of Information Security launched a series of 18 in-person sessions from January to April 2024, drawing nearly 350 attendees from the staff of various UC colleges and units. The Information Security Roadshow series aimed to equip the audience with knowledge on prevailing cyber threats, prevention strategies, how to report incidents and resources to stay informed and secure.
