VIDEO: UC Bearcats Are BCS Bowl Bound

Having clinched the Big East title Friday by virtue of Pitt's victory over West Virginia, the University of Cincinnati (UC) Bearcats tidied up loose ends with a 30-10 victory over Syracuse University on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, that secured sole possession of the top spot in the Big East standings.

For the third season in a row, the UC Bearcats will be playing in a bowl under Coach Brian Kelly. (2007 was the PapaJohns.com Bowl and 2006 was the International Bowl.) But this year, it will be the first BCS bowl appearance in school history, with the most likely destinations looking to be either the Orange Bowl or the Sugar Bowl.

The Bearcats, ranked No. 16 in the country this week, will have to wait until the BCS Selection Show on Dec. 7 to find out for sure to which bowl they’ll be headed.

Attendance was well over 34,000 for senior day, the Cats’ final game at home.

In fact, attendance has soared for home games this 2008 season, setting a school record with an average of 31,964 per game.
