Friday's UC Blood Drive to Support Relief in Haiti

The following message is from Eric Schmaltz, Hoxworth Blood Center

The UC All Campus Blood Drive is well underway. Thanks to Bearcat Blood Donors, 381 units have been collected so far. Hoxworth Blood Center is counting on the generous UC Community to collect 700 units for the week, which leaves 319 units to be collected today, and on Friday Jan. 15.

All blood donors on Friday will not only support local patients, but also help those in need in Haiti after the massive earthquake that occurred earlier this week. Hoxworth will donate $5 in your honor towards relief efforts in Haiti with your blood donation. You will get a free t-shirt as a thank-you for sharing the gift of life. The UC all-campus blood drive is taking place from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Great Hall of UC's Tangeman University Center (TUC) through Friday, Jan. 15.

Donating blood is safe and easy. You must be at least 17 years old (16 years old with a signed parental consent) and in good health. You must weigh at least 110 pounds and bring identification to donate. It is recommended that donors eat a good meal and drink plenty of water within four hours before donating.

To schedule your appointment please visit www.hoxworth.org/uc. Appointments to donate blood are recommended. Walk-ins are always welcome.
