The University of Cincinnati is one of America's top public research institutions with a student population of 39,000. UC is among America's Best National Universities, according to the latest rankings from U.S. News & World Report. The latest issue of the magazine’s influential Best Colleges guide ranks the University of Cincinnati 156th among the national universities.

UC is also the global founder of cooperative education, having invented the practice of co-op in 1906. Cooperative education is the practice wherein students alternate semesters or quarters in the classroom with semesters or quarters of paid, professional work directly related to their majors. Students in baccalaureate programs at UC where co-op is required generally generally graduate with about 18 months of paid, professional experiences on their resumes.

Each year, this urban, public, research university graduates 5,000 students, adding to more than 200,000 living alumni around the world.
