UC Alumna Cindy Chiang on "Amazing Race"
University of Cincinnati graduate and 2002 UC homecoming queen, Cindy Chiang, will be a contestant on the hit reality show, The Amazing Race, this fall. Cindy is originally from Beachwood, Ohio, a suburb of Cleveland. She was a 2004 recipient of UCs Presidential Leadership Medal of Excellence awarded to exemplary UC graduates; a Cincinnatus scholarship recipient; and a UC Honors student. While at UC, Cindy organized Camp Bearcat, an overnight retreat for first-year students which was sponsored by Procter & Gamble. She worked as a tour guide for UC Admissions and participated in the co-op program at Ethicon Endo-Surgery, Inc.
After graduating from UC, Cindy began her career at Proctor & Gamble in Consumer and Market Knowledge. Currently, Cindy is an assistant marketing manager for the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company, based in Chicago, and is responsible for new product innovation on the newest gum brand, 5®.
Cindy and her fiancé, Ernie Halversen,are one of 11 teams that will race around the globe, logging a total of roughly 40,000 miles, with the hope of winning the $1 million dollar prize. Locations scheduled for the race include Indonesia, Malawi, Belgium and Denmark.
The Amazing Race is a seven-time Emmy Award-winning reality series. Teams race around the world with the hopes of winning the grand prize of 1 million dollars. At each destination, each team competes in a series of challenges which are a combination of physical and mental tests.
The Amazing Race with Cindy premieres on CBS at 8 p.m., Sept. 25.
