Dr.

Charles H Matthews, Professor and Executive Director of the Center for Entrepreneurship Education & Research at the University of Cincinnati, was honored to deliver the opening keynote address of the First World Zhejiang Entrepreneurs Conference Forum on Global Entrepreneurship, Transition, and Advancement.  The forum was held on October 24, 2011, at Zhejiang University in Hangzhou, China.  The title of Dr. Matthews’ address was “Global Entrepreneurship: The Role of Innovation Transformation.”  “I was quite honored to be asked to address the 500 plus delegates attending the conference,” commented Dr. Matthews.  “In the 24 plus years I have been traveling, lecturing, and conducting research in China, I have witnessed tremendous change and this gathering represents one more important step advancing entrepreneurship in China.”

Zheziang University, widely considered one of the top universities in China, partnered with ICSB-China, the newest affiliate of the International Council for Small Business (ICSB) to organize and deliver the conference.  Faculty and students from China’s leading universities, government officials, business owners, policy makers, and delegates from a number of countries participated in the sessions.  Dr. Zoltan Arvay, former President of the Hungarian Small Business Association, learned about the conference while attending the ICSB-George Washington University Global Research Conference in Washington, DC several weeks ago and decided to travel from DC, home to  Budapest and then on to Hangzhou to learn more about China’s changing economic landscape.

The ICSB has 13 affiliates representing over 70 countries and 2,000 members worldwide.  Its mission is to advance small business and entrepreneurship around the world.
