UC Winter Blood Drive Eases Increased Demand from the Holidays

The all-university winter blood drive Jan. 9-12 added another 665 units of blood to the local blood supply, enough to save 1,995 lives.

Alecia Lipton, community relations manager for Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati, says the blood drive came at a critical time following the holidays, as blood donations are typically lower and demand is typically higher.

The blood drive registered 729 people, including 190 first-time donors.

UC’s all-university spring blood drive is scheduled for May 21-25.
