Kids Catch Acting Bug this Fall at the Calico Children's Theatre at UC Clermont College

The Calico Children’s Theatre at UC Clermont College will partner with Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati to provide acting workshops for children in grades K-8. These workshops – new this season -- focus on specific acting skills and theatre concepts in a fun and kid-friendly environment. Funding for all of the workshops are made possible by ArtsWave. All workshops will take place in the Krueger Auditorium at UC Clermont College in Batavia, Ohio.

 

Theatre in Real Life

October 25 – 5-6 p.m.

Cost - $15 per child

Through engaging theatre games, participants explore all the ways in which we communicate and how acting skills can help one in everyday life. 

Designed for children in grades K-2 with a maximum enrollment of 30 students

Stage Fright
October 25 – 6-7 p.m.
Cost - $15 per child
Learn some of the skills the pros use to help them cope with stage fright and how those skills can help students in real life! Participants learn about historical figures, courage and themselves.
Designed for children in grades 3-6 with a maximum enrollment of 30 students

It Isn’t WHAT You Say, It’s HOW You Say It
November 1 – 5-6 p.m.
Cost - $15 per child
How often have you heard (or said) this: “Don’t take that tone of voice with me”?  Students explore the power of their voices and how to use that power wisely. Serious discussions about bullying, emotional expression, and self-awareness combine with games and humor to make this a fun and effective experience.
Designed for children in grades 2-4 with a maximum enrollment of 30 students
 
Actors and Directors
November 1 – 6-7 p.m.
Cost - $15 per child
What does it take to be a good director or actor?  More than an acting class, this workshop challenges students to work in small groups to direct and perform scenes from classic fairytales.  An exciting and powerful way to build teamwork and leadership skills, this challenging experience often has humorous and surprising results!
Designed for children in grades 5-8 with a maximum enrollment of 30 students

The Science of Theatre
November 8 – 5-6 p.m.
Cost - $15 per child
Hard science comes out to play at the theatre.  Ever wonder how sound designers come up with the noises you hear in a show, or how haze is created?  Discussions on the states of matter, sound, and other scientific concepts help make this interactive and fun workshop a favorite. 
Designed for children in grades 3-8 with a maximum enrollment of 30 students

Play in a Day
November 10 – 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Cost - $35 per child
Write, design, build and perform an original play, all in the span of 3 hours! Designed to help foster creativity and the spirit of play while building problem solving, teamwork, and communication skills. 
Designed for children in grades 3-8 with a maximum enrollment of 20 students

Information Security Roadshow spreads awareness
