UC s Hillel Jewish Student Center Announces Its Second-Annual Bone Marrow Drive

UC’s Hillel Jewish Student Center is recruiting volunteers to enter into the National Marrow Donor Program.  Hillel volunteers will recruit possible bone marrow donors from

10 a.m.-4 p.m., Wednesday, Jan. 30, in the lobby area outside the MainStreet ExpressMart, located on the third level of Tangeman University Center (TUC).

Registration involves filling out forms and providing a swab sample of inner-cheek cells. Hillel volunteers will be on hand to guide potential donors through the registration process.

Ancient Maya blessed their ballcourts

Using environmental DNA analysis, researchers identified a collection of plants used in ceremonial rituals in the ancient Maya city of Yaxnohcah. The plants, known for their religious associations and medicinal properties, were discovered beneath a plaza floor upon which a ballcourt was built, suggesting the building might have been blessed or consecrated during construction.
