Fourth Annual Clermont Business Plan Competition - Free to All and Open to Students

UC Clermont College and the Ohio Small Business Development Center at the Clermont Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce the fourth annual Business Plan Competition. This competition is designed to stimulate entrepreneurial activity and increase awareness of resources available to grow entrepreneurs in Clermont County.
 
UC Clermont College will be offering four two-hour business planning classes beginning Monday, July 29, and continuing on consecutive Monday nights through Monday, Aug. 19.  Each session (listed below) will be from 6-8 p.m. at the 4200 Clermont College Drive campus in Batavia in McDonough Hall, Room 210. 
 
“UC Clermont College is delighted to partner with the Small Business Development Center of the Clermont Chamber of Commerce to offer free classes to budding entrepreneurs to prepare them and their business plans for the fourth annual Business Plan Competition. Each year between 20 and 30 plans are submitted and judged by our panel of business experts. The goal of the competition is to promote new business development in Clermont County and to prepare these entrepreneurs with a foundation in business concepts taught by faculty and community leaders with real world business experience coupled with expertise honed by their research activities,” said Jeff Bauer, department head for Business, Law and Technology at UC Clermont. 
 
Competitors must submit a complete business plan of no more than 30 pages for a company that operates or will operate in Clermont County. It can be for a new business, early stage company, or a proposed expansion or recovery of an existing business. Winners must use their winnings in the business itself within Clermont County. The best business plans will win the following award amounts:
 
First Place wins $4,000
Second Place wins $2,000
Third Place wins $1,000

All competitors are encouraged to attend the FREE business planning classes offered by UC Clermont College in conjunction with the Ohio Small Business Development Center and our sponsors. Students are encouraged to participate.

•  Monday, Aug. 5 - Marketing Strategy/Web-Based Marketing
 
•  Monday, Aug. 12 - Business Law & Rules
 
•  Monday, Aug. 19 - Accounting/Finance/Funding
