Memorial Service Set for Professor Michael Margolis

Professor emeritus Michael S. Margolis, 73, died Oct. 30, 2013, at Saint Elizabeth Hospice. Margolis came to the Political Science Department in 1990 from the University of Pittsburgh to become the head of the department.

A celebration of his life will take place at 12:30 p.m. Nov. 17, at The Center for Great Neighborhoods, 1650 Russell St., Covington, Ky.

“Last month, Mike was still on the department floor working on his research and engaging colleagues with his wit and intellectual curiosity,” said Richard Harknett, department head. “Along with being a scholar of American politics, Mike was a true academic, who cared deeply about the intellectual enterprise and very much wanted the university to succeed and our students to advance. We are all going to miss having him around.

The family has suggested that memorials be directed to the political science department’s discretionary fund at the University of Cincinnati.
