She has been a member of the AMA Group Practice Advisory Committee and recently concluded her service on the Physician Consortium for Performance Improvement, the National Advisory Council for Healthcare Research and Quality, and the Commission on Office Laboratory Accreditation Board of Directors.
As president of the AMA, Hoven is focused on improving health outcomes nationally, accelerating change in medical education, and enhancing physician satisfaction and practice sustainability. She currently serves on the board of directors of the National Quality Forum and the Quality Alliance Steering Committee.
Just this year, Hoven was named one of the top 25 women in health care, as well as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare (No. 54) by Modern Healthcare magazine. She is also the recipient of the Kentucky Medical Associations Distinguished Service Award and of the University of Kentucky College of Medicines Distinguished Alumnus Award.
