UC to Award More Than 2,000 Degrees at December Commencement
More than 2,000 University of Cincinnati students will receive their degrees this December.
The ceremony for those receiving associate and baccalaureate degrees is set for
9 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 14
, in Fifth Third Arena. UC President Santa J. Ono will lead that ceremony, and Ohio Gov. John R. Kasich
will deliver the Commencement address
that day.
A Doctoral Hooding and Masters Recognition Ceremony will be held for students earning advanced degrees at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 13, at Fifth Third Arena, led by Robert Zierolf, interim vice provost and dean of The Graduate School.
Parking will be free in all UC West Campus garages on both Friday, Dec. 13, and Saturday, Dec. 14.

Students applying for their degrees this autumn number

. They will earn a total of 2,186 degrees, as some students earn more than one.
The December 2013 degree breakdown is
- 208 associate degrees
- 987 bachelor's degrees
- 855 master's degrees
- 136 doctoral and professional degrees
related to the December 2013 class.
MEET OUR GRADS, SEE THEIR STORIES
The UC graduates earning their degrees this December range in age from 18-65, and one grad,
, is earning her baccalaureate at UC Blue Ash College 32 years after having earned her associate degree there. Another,
Aniruddha Deshpande, is a doctoral student who will earn UC's first
certificate in animal audiology, from UC's College of Allied Health Sciences. This certificate program is the first of its kind and
combines the fields of audiology and veterinary medicine to meet a growing need for audiologists who can test for and diagnose hearing problems in animals, particularly dogs.

UC WILL PRESENT FOUR HONORARY DEGREES
An honorary doctorate is the highest award the university can bestow, and Decembers Commencement honorary degree recipients are
- UC alumnus Robert L. Fealy, president, chief operating officer and director of The Duchossois Group, Elmhurst, Ill., one the worlds leading manufacturers of consumer and commercial electronic products.
- Xavier University President Michael J. Graham, S.J., who has served in that role since 2001.
- Cincinnati native Ardis Dee Hoven, MD, president of the American Medical Association.
- Cincinnati native John A. Ruthven, naturalist, author, lecturer and internationally acknowledged master of wildlife art.
The webcast of the Friday, Dec. 13, recognition ceremony for masters and doctoral graduates will begin 30 minutes before the 10 a.m. ceremony.
The webcast for the Saturday, Dec. 14, Commencement for associate and baccalaureate degrees will begin 30 minutes before the 9 a.m. ceremony.
