UC College of Medicine's Christy Holland Voted President Elect of Acoustical Society of America
Christy Holland, PhD, professor in the division of cardiovascular health and diseases and associate director of research for the Heart, Lung and Vascular Institute, has been voted president-elect of the Acoustical Society of America.
The ASA is the premier international scientific society of acoustics, dedicated to increasing and diffusing the knowledge of acoustics and its practical applications. Founded in 1929, ASA has more than 7,500 members work in acoustics throughout the United States and abroad.
In 1931 the Acoustical Society joined with three other scientific societies to form the American Institute of Physics, an organization designed to unite physics-related groups and to provide facilities for publishing and other common activities. An important element in the progress of the Society has been The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America. Its approximately 7000 pages per year are the leading source of theoretical and experimental research results in the broad interdisciplinary study of sound.
