Don't Forget to Sign Up for Aug. 20-21 Helping Hands
This years move-in is scheduled for Wednesday, August 20, and Thursday, August 21. High-traffic times are expected to be between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., so volunteers are encouraged to schedule their shifts during this period. If possible, volunteers are asked to work a three- or four-hour shift, but any amount of time is appreciated.
To ease the annual rush at Calhoun and Daniels Halls, H&FS will be splitting the buildings by directing two arrival times. Residents living on lower floors will be directed to arrive in the morning; upper floor residents will be directed to begin arriving at noon.
Hall openings are as follows. The halls listed in bold are the halls where the most help is needed. Please consider this when registering.
Wednesday, August 20:
Calhoun Hall, Dabney Hall,
Stratford Heights, Turner/Schneider Halls, Morgens Hall
Thursday, August 21:
Daniels Hall, Siddall Hall,
University Park Apartments

Every effort will be made to honor hall preferences, but adjustments may be made to ensure coverage. When schedules are completed at the beginning of August, volunteers will receive a confirmation email about their assignment.
Plan to attend the All Hands meeting on Thursday, August 7, from 1 to 2 p.m. in the Great Hall, Tangeman University Center.
At that time, volunteers will meet with their hall coordinator to review the hall opening plans and to pick up their Helping Hands t-shirt. The t-shirts for this year will be new as the shirt color has been changed to make the Helping Hands volunteers more visible. All volunteers are asked to indicate shirt size when registering.
In appreciation for the Helping Hands support, all volunteers and coordinators will receive a
free lunch
at
CenterCourt
or
MarketPointe@Siddall
for the day worked, and a free day pass to the Campus Recreation Center which can be used at any time.
This is an exciting time for students and their families. Being a Helping Hands volunteer allows the opportunity to welcome students and parents to campus and personally thank each of them for choosing UC. H&FS staff hope faculty and staff will join them.
