Fearless Project Creator to Speak about Series for LGBT History Month on Oct. 15 and Oct. 16
The Fearless Project
began as an independent photography project in 2003 by artist and photographer Jeff Sheng, who started documenting out lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender athletes on high school and college sports teams as a photo series inspired by his own personal experience as a closeted high school athlete.
Jeff has traveled to various high schools and colleges as an educational endeavor to decrease homophobia in sports among students. With over 150 athletes photographed, his series has also been exhibited at ESPN Headquarters, the International LGBT Human Rights Conference in Copenhagen, Denmark, Nike World Headquarters, and the Vancouver Winter Olympics.
Jeff Sheng will be speaking about the exhibit from 6-7 p.m. on Oct. 15, and from Noon-1 p.m. on Oct. 16, in the Great Hall, Tangeman University Center.
The exhibit can be viewed in the following locations during the month of October:
- Oct. 1-9: Campus Recreation Center, MainStreet Passageway
- Oct. 10-19: Tangeman University Center
- Oct. 20-24: University Pavilion, Levels 2 and 3
- Oct. 25-31: CARE/Crawley, Atrium
