Mark Your Calendars for UC's Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 10
Cadets will stand at attention, flags will wave and the University of Cincinnati will pay tribute to all military veterans during a solemn ceremony on Nov. 10.
The formal event begins at
9 a.m. Nov. 10 on McMicken Commons
and will be led by UC President Santa J. Ono. Remarks will be given by guest speaker retired U.S. Navy Capt. Frank Mendralski, a UC alumnus. All are welcome to attend, and free refreshments will be available.
UC's ceremony will be held in advance of the national Veterans Day observance on Nov. 11, the anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended World War I in 1918.
The ceremony concludes with the presentation of a commemorative gift to veterans in attendance, and a Veterans Fair will begin shortly afterward. The
fair will feature more than a dozen local and regional veteran-oriented groups
, including representatives from UC's award-winning
Omega Delta Sigma-Ohio Beta co-ed veterans fraternity
. UCs Office of Veterans Programs & Services is coordinating additional veteran-themed activities to be held throughout the week.
The University of Cincinnati has close to 1,500 student veterans enrolled one of the largest populations of student veterans in Ohio and has been
named a Military Friendly School
by Victory Media for six consecutive years.
