Mark Your Calendars for UC's Veterans Day Ceremony on Nov. 10

Cadets will stand at attention, flags will wave and the University of Cincinnati will pay tribute to all military veterans during a solemn ceremony on Nov. 10.

The formal event begins at

9 a.m. Nov. 10 on McMicken Commons

and will be led by UC President Santa J. Ono. Remarks will be given by guest speaker retired U.S. Navy Capt. Frank Mendralski, a UC alumnus. All are welcome to attend, and free refreshments will be available.

UC's ceremony will be held in advance of the national Veterans Day observance on Nov. 11, the anniversary of the signing of the armistice that ended World War I in 1918.

The ceremony concludes with the presentation of a commemorative gift to veterans in attendance, and a Veterans Fair will begin shortly afterward. The

fair will feature more than a dozen local and regional veteran-oriented groups

, including representatives from UC's award-winning

Omega Delta Sigma-Ohio Beta co-ed veterans fraternity

. UC’s Office of Veterans Programs & Services is coordinating additional veteran-themed activities to be held throughout the week.

The University of Cincinnati has close to 1,500 student veterans enrolled – one of the largest populations of student veterans in Ohio – and has been

named a Military Friendly School

by Victory Media for six consecutive years.
