University of Cincinnati to Mirror Award-Winning Student Residence Hall

Scioto Hall will be renovated to replicate that of award-winning Morgens Hall, with 440 beds in 12 apartments per floor. Construction office trailers have arrived at the site, and the perimeter fencing is to begin Dec. 1.

Construction impact to campus traffic is minimal. Morgens Hall occupants will need to cross campus using the Campus Green as the sidewalk. The front of Scioto Hall will be blocked off. Additionally, Scioto Lane will become a one-way street, with entry from east bound Martin Luther King (MLK) Avenue and exit via University Avenue. University Avenue Garage will maintain north and south entry and exits as well. Reciprocity parking will enter from east bound MLK and exit to University Ave. South garage entry will be from both directions and exit to University Ave. This is the same arrangement as Morgens Hall construction traffic with a section of Scioto Lane facing one way south. Renovation completion is scheduled for July 2016.

Scioto Hall’s renovation precedes the design and construction of a new mid-rise mixed-use building adjacent, on the former Sawyer Hall site, with anticipated occupancy by fall 2017.

The Scioto Hall offices of Housing & Food Services and Resident Education and Development will move to Stratford Heights, building 16, off of Clifton Avenue. Housing & Food Services office hours will remain the same and staff can be reached at 513-556-6461.
