UC Surplus Holds Public Sale on Jan. 10

The next UC Surplus Equipment Department's public sale is set for 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 10, at the facility located at 5121 Fishwick Drive.

Special inventory to be offered includes two trucks, a 2000 GMC 3500 SL 4x4 and a 1994 Chevy S10 pickup; vintage Perey turnstiles; and a large, red pole vault pit.

Additional inventory includes exercise equipment such as Paramount leg and chest machines; desktop and laptop computers (without hard drives or operating systems); small apartment stoves for $10 each; a large selection of refrigerators ($20-$25 each) and matching and stacking chairs; metal storage cabinets; adjustable lab stools; and a variety of unique furniture items, electronics and lab equipment.

Purchases can be made via check, credit card (Visa, Master Card, Discover) or money order, but no cash is accepted.

Local couple uses royalties from children's books to give gifts to kids in need

A local couple has found a unique way to give back to those in need this holiday season. Vic and Laura Troha wrote two children's books together, and this year, they are using the proceeds to buy Christmas gifts for Hamilton County foster kids. The couple are both graduates of the University of Cincinnati's College of Allied Health Sciences and met the day they graduated.
