University Dining Services Welcomes New Executive Chef to UC
Cincinnati native and University of Cincinnati alumna, Stephanie Schifrin Salas was born to be a chef.
Early on, while watching PBSs original celebrity chef, Julia Child, Stephanie was enthralled with all things cooking. Her junior high classmates began referring to her as Chef Steph well before her graduation from Queen City Culinary Academy and the Culinary Institute of America.
Having worked for several top culinary operations in America: Delaware North/Sportservice, The Marriott, Levy Restaurants, The Compass Group and most recently Aramark, Chef Stephanie has drawn from many years of diverse experiences and education to bring her special talents to University of Cincinnatis Premium Services.
Feeding larger groups has become Chef Stephanies niche. Cooking at home for two or four people has become increasingly difficult as she has grown accustomed to feeding the masses.
Chef Stephanies cooking style is a modern mix of classic flavors. She has a flair for taking ordinary ingredients and making them extraordinary, as well as being well versed in the art of soups and sauces, and has been trained as a saucier. Chef Stephanie tells us, If you can make a good soup you can make anything!
Chef Stephanie will oversee the culinary program in Classic Fare Catering and Mick & Macks Contemporary Café, including the monthly Chefs Table Dinners and Wine & Spirits Tastings. The university community is excited to welcome Chef Stephanie Schifrin Salas and tasting her amazing creations on a regular basis.
