Help Define the Future of eLearning
Excelling in eLearning is one of the five pillars of UC's Third Century plan. More than 90 percent of classes at UC already utilize some form of technology to enhance learning, such as Blackboard.
Often referred to as hybrid classes, the majority of classes at UC fall into this category and represent the new traditional class. In addition to these classes, 17 percent of UC students are currently enrolled in a fully online program, and this population is continuing to grow rapidly.
UC's student-centered eLearning ecosystem seeks to leverage the above trends. More than just a collection of technology tools, Canopy is about supporting students and faculty in an anytime, anywhere climate, from face to face to fully online particularly through the creation of partnerships that fuse pedagogy with technology to support 21st century teaching and learning.
During the past 18 months, the focus of eLearning has been building the community surrounding technology and innovation in learning, developing and implementing an eLearning ecosystem and launching the governance process. Canopy also has deepened the partnership with the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning and built its eLearning team through the Center for Excellence in eLearning, Analytics Team, Learning Technology Support Team, and the Distance Learning and Continuing Education teams.
Through the next nine months the eLearning Strategic Planning Committee will be working to build a large-scale, community-informed roadmap that will impact how to define eLearning at UC.
As part of this participatory process, we are reaching out to faculty, students and community partners to help shape the values, outcomes and future of eLearning by eliciting feedback via surveys, focus groups and interviews.
