UC Seeks Nominations for Honorary Degrees
The honorary degree is the highest award that the University of Cincinnati bestows, and the university needs your help in identifying possible candidates for this recognition.
Nominations should include exemplary individuals who have achieved extraordinary distinction with ongoing and significant importance. The nominations process is a continuous one, so nominations can be made at any time. The honor is presented at UC's Commencement ceremonies.
Criteria for the award center on extraordinary accomplishments and achievements people who personify the highest ideals of the university and have notably demonstrated these qualities in their actions and accomplishments. They do not have to be UC alumni or have an affiliation with UC. The full list of the criteria, instructions for submission, a description of the nomination requirements and a list of previous recipients can be found at
. The process involves two steps.
The final selection of honorees is made by an honors committee in combination with UCs president and Board of Trustees. Honorary degrees are not awarded posthumously or in absentia unless the Board of Trustees votes to grant a specific exception.
Questions concerning nominations can be directed to Nicole Blount, Executive Assistant to the Board of Trustees, 513-556-3233 or
