Nursing Faculty Give Poster Presentations at National Nursing Summit
Two faculty from the UC College of Nursing recently gave poster presentations at the National League for Nursing Education Summit in Orlando, Florida. Lori Catalano, PhD, assistant professor of clinical nursing, and Eileen Werdman, DNP, assistant professor of clinical, gave their presentations on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2016 and Friday, Sept. 23, 2016.
Werdman presented "What Can You See When You Look Through a Looking Glass?" on using simulation to educate students in the Collaboratory Smart House at Maple Knoll Village. She worked with Robin Wagner, associate professor of clinical and director of the Skills and Simulation Lab in the College of Nursing, to put together the presentation which featured an iPad mounted on the poster playing a looped video of an elderly woman and her son reviewing the discharge instructions.

This presentation also featured an iPad mounted on the poster playing a simulation of a patient coming into the emergency room in a confused state, and students assess the patient as they watch the video to help determine what is wrong.
The National League for Nursing, an organization for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education, offers professional development, networking opportunities, testing services, nursing research grants and public policy initiatives to its 40,000 individual and 1,200 institutional members.
